Own a magnificent slice of American lapidary history. This commanding artisan statement ring centers an exceptionally large, hand-cut 29x17mm oval natural Number 8 Turquoise cabochon, sourced from the legendary mined deposits of Eureka County, Nevada. Authentic, large-scale Number 8 material of this grade is highly collectible, as the historic mine ceased turquoise operations decades ago.
As showcased in 71326a.jpg and 71326d.jpg, this stone features a spectacular, glass-like high-polish dome. Its serene, light powder-blue surface is laced with a delicate, fine-lined spiderweb matrix and anchored by rich chocolate-brown host rock along the lower edges.
The Craftsmanship
This ring was engineered from scratch on my bench to comfortably balance a stone of this magnificent presence:
The Frame & Bezel: The massive oval cabochon is seated securely within a clean sawtooth bezel. It is embellished with an intricate, hand-crafted border featuring a row of classic twisted wire paired with a brilliant beaded wire accent that catches the light from every direction (detailed in 71326c.jpg).
The Triple Half-Round Split Shank: To support a stone of this scale without spinning, the band is constructed with a heavy-duty triple half-round split wire shank. This design distributes weight evenly across the finger, offering unparalleled comfort and structural stability. It sits as a standard US Size 9, verified on the mandrel in 71326e.jpg.
The Backplate & Hallmark: The reverse side features a mirror-polished sterling backplate cleanly stamped with .925 for silver purity, right alongside my hand-engraved cursive artisan signature hallmark, "lasgg" (visible in 71326b.jpg).
